Description
Water Base Wood Coatings.
Characteristics
Dura Wood Protect Range of products are water base wood coatings.
- These products are formulated keeping in mind the current needs of the environmental impact of the coatings.
- Dura Wood Protect Range products are low VOC products ( absence of toxic emissions), free from unpleasant smell.
- Dura Wood Protect Range , water based products for indoors represent a concrete alternate to the traditional solvent based products.
- Dura Wood Protect Range of products protects the wood from degradation and discolouration under the influence of sunlight
- The coatings with Dura Wood Protect Range have excellent exterior durability
Causes of Wood Degradation
- Humidity: Wood shows dimensional variations due to the humidity present in the atmosphere which causes the expansion and contraction of wood giving rise to deformation in the structure.
- UV RAYS: UV rays from the sunlight damages the exterior doors, windows, fences, garden furniture’s.
- Biodegradation: Wood is susceptible to attack by organisms. These organisms feed on wood making it less durable.

Surface Preparation & Application
- These provide good wetting, penetration and adhesion.
- These help in the permeability of the coatings thereby facilitating the moisture transfer and avoids the wood deformation.
- Resistance to UV radiations.
- Very good impermeability to water, stains
- Easy on application
- Optimized surface preparation, drying and film formation
- These coatings are very well engineered to provide scratch resistance and at the same time flexible enough to avoid cracks and removal of the film from the surface.
Application Methods
- Sanding: This involves the cleaning of the surface with a sand paper.
- Sealer Coat : Dura Wood Protect Range sealer provides the base coat to the wood with an excellent filling and the subsequent sanding helps to prepare the wood for the top coat. Dura Wood Protect Range needs to be applied by spray method. Subsequent sanding is carried out to get a smooth , filled surface.
- Top Coat : Dura Wood Protect Range range of products provide Glossy as well as Matt finish to the wood. These products need to be applied .These top coats provides the aesthetic appearance as well as protection against the moisture, uv rays etc. to the wooden article.
- The base coat as well as the top coat can be applied by various methods such as spray method or brush method.
Preservation and Storage
The dispersion contains some initial preservatives to prevent attack by micro-organisms. In order that the products is also sufficiently protected against microbial contamination during further storage in opened drums or storage tanks a suitable preservative measures and tanks should be kept adequately clean.
Prior to use Dura Wood Protect Range should be stored for no longer than 6 months at temperatures as constant as possible between 5 and 25°C and must be protected from frost and direct exposure to sunshine. Furthermore it must be ensured that already opened drums or containers are always tightly closed.
The technical data ascertained by our quality control laboratory at the time of product release may vary according to the storage time and storage conditions and may deviate from the stated limits.
